Tale of the Tape

My Find of the Week, as I found them.

Tale of the Tape:

Hike length: 5.3 miles

Weather: Temps in the low 70s, mostly sunny with mild humidity

Time: 2.6 hours

Litter: 3.1 lbs.

Tapes Found: 3 (?)(!)

This time of year I like to spray the overgrowing weeds at the entrance and exit to the walkbridge over I-691. One twenty-five ounce bottle just about does the job.

On Wednesday, fireworks were launched from Castle Craig. I hiked up there to see how clean the area was in the aftermath and whether it would require a cleanup.

While the parking lot looked very good, whoever was responsible did not remove the caution tape, just like happened during the Daffodil Festival.

Then, I could assign responsibility to the fire department because it says so on the tape, and the fire officer I met when he was putting up the tape told me a fire watch is posted overnight. You would think they would remove the tape prior to leaving...

This time, the tape reveals the police department were the slackers.

Second award goes to the parks department, who I imagine did a fantastic job presumably cleaning the parking lot after the fireworks, but for some reason, I'm speculating here, stopped short. I did the dirty work and removed all the tape.

Following the road from Castle Craig down, I found and removed a sticker from the sign. I thought it would be easy to decipher what "BMFS" means but nah; too many possibilities. Sorry for all the pop-up ads in the link!

'Til next week, when I'll check on how effective my weed killing duties were...
